World War One Remembrance Weekend

Details of events being held locally in recognition of the end of World War One.

Thursday 8th November 2018
Chorleywood Book Shop will be hosting an event with Speaker Peter Hart promoting his book The Last Battle – Endgame on the Western Front 1918

Friday 9th November 2018
Chorleywood Film Club will be screening Journey’s End (Cert: 12). The events in the film (and R.C.Sheriff’s play on which it’s based) take place over 4 days in March 1918.

Saturday 10th November 2018
The Parish Council afternoon Tea Party with entertainment from local groups. Tickets available from the Parish Office £5.00 for adults and £3.00 for children.

10th November Evening
Chorleywood Orchestra. With a programme of music from the Elgar’s Cello Concerto.

Sunday 11th November at 3pm.
The Annual Service of Remembrance will be held at the War Memorial Hall.

All proceeds to go to the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes

Autumnal photography walk

Date: Friday 2nd November 2018 – Chorleywood House Grounds – 10:30am – 1pm

These relaxed and friendly walks are suitable for families and people of all ages and ability levels. No specialist equipment is needed; just bring a digital camera, Smartphone or tablet and your imagination!

Taking guidance from professional photographer Pete Stevens, you can enjoy the surroundings whilst picking up handy tips on composition, resolution and how to use natural lighting. See your photos feature in an online gallery afterwards and be in with the chance of winning the ‘best snap’ competition!

Green Flag Vote

Chorleywood House Estate was recently awarded another Green Flag because of the excellence of the environment it offers, and the diverse, well maintained landscape. The inspectors applied tougher criteria when making the awards this year, so we are especially pleased to have been recognised again in this way, and to have acknowledged that the Estate is a wonderful place for people of all ages to walk, rest and play.

Three Rivers District Council have drawn our attention to the ‘Green Flag People’s Choice’ competition. Throughout September people can vote for their favourite Green Flag site in the world (!). With Apple Day approaching – Saturday 6th October – providing a great family opportunity to see the Estate (including the chance to visit the Lady Ela Russell Red & White Summerhouse, please vote for us. Satisfaction Survey for Chorleywood House Estate

Visitor opinions are very important to Three Rivers District Council. Feedback helps to ensure that the Council works towards providing the quality and facilities expected by visitors.
