The Summer House
The red and white Summer House standing alone between the house and the public tennis courts was built on the orders of Lady Ela Russell who bought the estate in 1892.
Lady Ela would use it for tea parties, scrolling up a large blind to allow the view across the parkland. During the war, the Chorleywood WVS used it, and the ladies would sort rivets as part of the war effort. Later it was used as a nursery school, and then it fell into disuse.
In 2006, Three Rivers repaired and painted the exterior and then re-wired the buillding for light and power. Volunteers then scrubbed the interior and re-painted it, so now it is a delightful small hall and available for hire.
The Ice House

| The remains of a building known as the Ice House are near the Dell beside the ruins of one of the old farmhouses. Its distance from the main house actually makes it seem unlikely that it would have been used to store ice but its true purpose has not been identified. |
